The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) and The Singapore Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong) (SingCham HK) are jointly organising a "Fireside Chat" Luncheon on 7 May 2024 (Tuesday), 12.15 pm to 2.00 pm at Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel, Hong Kong.

There will be a fireside Chat between Mr Patrick Yeung, CEO of HKGCC, and Mr Basil Hwang, Vice Chairman, Singcham HK on the topic : The Future of Tourism : Sustainable VS Over-Tourism?

This event is sponsored by Fullerton Ocean Park and the nominal fee is for administrative and handling fee to cover various operational costs.

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) and the Singapore Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong) (SingCham HK) are jointly hosting a luncheon event focused on Sustainable Tourism Development. The event aims to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between the two business communities.

The highlight of the event is a fireside chat featuring esteemed speakers, Patrick Yeung, CEO of HKGCC and Basil Hwang, Vice Chairman of SingCham HK. The fireside chat will delve into the crucial topic of sustainable tourism, exploring various aspects such as legal frameworks, environmental impact, cultural preservation, and responsible tourism practices. The discussion will also touch upon public-private partnerships and technological advancements. Through this event, participants will gain valuable insights into sustainable tourism practices and opportunities, fostering mutual growth and enhancing business prospects for both Hong Kong and Singapore.

Patrick Yeung
CEO of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce
Before joining HKGCC, Mr. YEUNG was a senior executive of Swire Group. He spent close to three decades in the Group’s Aviation Division, and assumed senior management positions at both Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair. He also was the Group’s China Chief Representative, based in Beijing, between 2009 and 2011.

As an all-round executive, Mr. YEUNG has solid commercial and operational experience across Asia, with recognized expertise in pioneering & start-up, change management, and government relations.

He was appointed Professor of Practice (Tourism Marketing), School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2019.

As the CEO of HKGCC, Mr YEUNG sits on various boards and government committees, including GS1HK, International Business Committee, and HKTDC Council.

Mr. YEUNG holds a Master’s Degree in E-Commerce (Sc) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from The University of Hong Kong.

Basil Hwang
Vice Chairman at The Singapore Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong)
Basil Hwang is the Managing Partner of Hauzen LLP, a financial regulatory law firm. He is a specialist in the laws of the financial markets – including regulation, disputes, investigations, complex transactions and insolvency. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Singapore Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong).

Prior to founding Hauzen LLP, Mr. Hwang was the founder and managing partner of a US law firm for seven years, an executive director of a Hong Kong Mainboard-listed company, and the general counsel and independent director at other companies listed in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Mr. Hwang is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, as a solicitor in England and Wales, and as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore.

He holds a LL.B. (Hons) degree from the National University of Singapore, and a Master of Science in Global Finance jointly conferred by HKUST and the NYU Stern School of Business.
