Dear members and friends
The Dutch Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong is organising a lunch session - China's Singapore Model with Adjunct Assistant Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Mr Stephan Ortmann, to provide a presentation about his latest publication: "China's Singapore Model and Authoritarian Learning". This event will be supported by German Chamber of Commerce and The Singapore Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong).
TITLE: "China's Singapore Model; Opportunities and Challenges on dealing with Modernisation"
SUMMARY:
This session will explore to what extent China has drawn lessons from Singapore, both in terms of its ruling ideology and through the policy-specific learning process. In so doing, it provides insights into the opportunities but also the challenges of this long-term learning process, focusing attention on how regimes deal with modernization.
To which extent can this model help us to understand the political-economic developments in China and perhaps also provide indications about the future?
Our speaker is Stephan Ortmann, Adjunct Assistant Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and editor of the publication "China's Singapore Model and Authoritarian Learning" – co-edited with Mark R. Thompson. The session will be moderated by Quinten Kah, Commercial Director at Intertrust Group and Member of the China Committee at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
